A Great Meal from Miss Terry . . .
This morning started for me about 10:15 with coffee, a banana, and the Internet.
Then about 11:30 Nick and I drove into Coarsegold to pick up my mail from the Post Office and then stop off at the Coarsegold Market to pick up some groceries for Jan.
After a very nice nap, about 4:45 Jan and I walked next door to Nick and Terry’s for one of Terry’s great dinner meals.
She had fixed a Pork Loin Roast with Wild Rice and Grilled Brussel Sprouts. Jan doesn’t really like brussel sprouts, but she loved these.
And for dessert, Terry really outdid herself with a fresh Strawberry/Raspberry Pie and real whipped cream.
OMG!
While we were recovering from that great meal, some friends, Ron and JerriLea Hopf, showed up to visit awhile and we had a good time getting to know them.
Finally, a little before 8, with Jan having trouble keeping her eyes open, we headed back home.
I though, still had a chore to do. Earlier today I had accidently bumped the dish that holds Jan’s earrings, knocking some of them into the sink. Since the stopper was open, I didn’t know if any earrings had fallen into the sink trap. So I closed the stopper and told Jan I would remove the trap later. And now was later.
I had dug out my strap wrench, but it turns out I didn’t need it. I was able to turn both fittings by hand. And after I dumped the trap water in a container I found no lost earrings. Well, it had to be checked.
Tomorrow before noon, Nick and I have to go down to the park office and re-up for another week or so. We’ll probably stay until the 31st of May which will get us past Memorial Day and the resulting crowds.
That’s about it for today. I’ve reposted some of our trip last May through Idaho and Montana.

A Beautiful Day in Montana…
Originally posted on May 25, 2010
Today was really pretty uneventful. We left Blackwell Island RV Park in Coeur d’Alene about 9:45 heading for Garrison, MT about 240 miles away.
A little over an hour later we entered Montana and the Mountain Time Zone, so 11 am became 12 noon.
About 12:15 we stopped at a rest area for a quick snack lunch, and while we were there, Jan started a crock-pot meal of her world-famous chicken spaghetti. She then puts the crock-pot in the sink to keep it in place. It plugs in just like normal, since the coach inverter gives us AC power on the road. And it really started to smell good as we drove.
Just as on our trip to Alaska two years ago, the scenery between Coeur d’Alene and here is really fantastic. The hills start out heavily forested, and gradually thinned out to these sparsely-vegetated rolling hills.
And as you can see, the weather was fantastic too.
The biggest thing we’ve noticed since leaving the coast is the much cooler nighttime temperatures. It’s been in the mid 30’s almost every night. Last night here in Garrison it was 31 degrees with rain/snow showers.
And as you’ll see below there’s still a lot of snow on the mountain tops.
Even today, although it was very sunny, I don’t think it made 60 degrees.
We arrived at here at Riverfront RV Park about 4 pm and started setting up. About 5pm Jan added the spaghetti to the crock-pot and turned it on high to cook.
Our daughter Brandi called about then to talk about her upcoming wedding on June 21st. Then about 5:15 our daughter-in-law Linda called to chat about Brandi’s bridal shower this weekend.
And the scenery here at the park is pretty good, too. Here’s the view out our front window. Note the snow.
Here’s our site here,
And here’s Mister on the prowl. Note the leash.
We just let him drag it around. After all, the park rules just say “All pets must be on a leash.” Nothing says I have to be holding it.
About 7:30 about a half dozen magpies showed up out in front of our rig. The last time we saw magpies was two years ago in Dawson Creek, BC, Canada, on our way to Alaska. These are really beautiful birds.
Tomorrow we head for Billings, MT for one night, and then on to Gillette, WY for the American Coach Rally.
More tomorrow . . .

Resting Up . . .
My day started a little later than usual, about 11 am. But then I didn’t get to bed until almost 3.
I fixed coffee and had a banana for breakfast.
Yesterday our daughter Brandi sent over this Landon photo of his daycare class. That’s him on the far left in the checked shirt.
What I want to know is how they got all those kids to sit still at the same time. Hypnotism, powerful drugs, what?
Later for lunch, Jan heated up the last of the pizza from the other night. Once again, adding some basil and oregano made all the difference.
About 2:30 Nick and I headed in to Coarsegold to the Post Office. Nick had some stuff to mail, and I wanted to check for some mail via General Delivery. But I’ll have to try again tomorrow since it didn’t come in.
Coming home we stopped at the Coarsegold Feed Store to get Jan some raw peanuts to feed the squirrels, but they were out. Said to try again next week.
Next was a stop at the Coarsegold Market for some cream cheese to have with the Raspberry Habanero jelly we got the other day.
About 5:45 we all headed into Oakhurst for dinner. We ended up going back to Todd’s Cookhouse BBQ where we ate a couple of days ago. And once again it was really good. Hopefully we’ll go back again before we leave here.
Coming home we again stopped off for a cappuccino. I think we’ve go Nick hooked on these.
That’s about it for today.
