Internet Utilities

Chrome

Both Chrome and Firefox are probably the best browsers for both the Android and the PC. Much better than the ‘Internet’ one that comes standard on an Android phone.

Google

Between ‘OK Google’ and the Google search box, you have access to pretty much every known fact in the world.

Skype

Skype is a great app for video phone calls. We’ve used it for a number of years to keep in touch with Landon as we traveled around the country.

SpeedTest.net is the premiere app to check the speed of your internet connection. The reading above is here at Colorado River TT after Verizon upgraded to XLTE in this area. Nice!

Advanced Signal Status

I use Advanced Signal Status to check out the status of 3G and 4G phone signals in an area when I’m seeing crappy data from my phone or aircard.

Open Signal

I’ve used Open Signal in the past to locate the direction of the nearest cell tower so I know which way to point my Wilson Cell Phone Booster Directional Antenna. In 2012 when we were gate guarding in south Texas I was pulling in 4 bars from a tower 19 miles away.
