Sun Set, Moon Rise . . .
Jan and I want to thank everyone for their comments on our roller coaster photo that ended up on Yahoo. It was really amazing that it popped up like this 5 years later. I guess they’re right.
Nothing ever disappears from the Internet.
Since we don’t have AC in our truck, and won’t until we get back to Houston, we’ve been staying home until it cools off later in the afternoon so today we waited until about 4 pm before leaving the rig.
Our first destination was the Home Depot up in Foley behind the Lambert’s Throwed Rolls. The small setscrew that holds the handle on came out of our American Standard lavatory faucet. Checking online, the Home Deport website shows they have several different paks of setscrews, with and without a hex wrench. But despite what the website says, the store said they are online order only.
Just what I want to do. Wait for a week to fix the faucet. I’ll check tomorrow at an Ace Hardware.
Coming back to Gulf Shores, we stopped off at another favorite place, King Neptune’s Seafood. We always eat here once or twice every visit, but this is actually the first time we’ve had supper there. Normally it’s a lunch place for us, with their great specials.
We each started off with a cup of their Corn and Crab Bisque. We’ve never tried this before, but we’ll certainly have it again.
Next up, we both went with one of their Po-Boys. Jan had the the Shrimp and Oyster version,
while I went with the Flounder item.
This is the second time I’ve had Flounder since we’ve been here, and I’d forgotten how good it is. It seems most of the time, I’m usually eating catfish. So this is a nice change.
But what’s really amazing is how something so tasty can come from something so ugly. And strange.
See, that’s ugly.
And the strange part is that the Flounder doesn’t have sides, only a top and a bottom. It’s a flatfish that lives on the bottom and burrows into the sand to hide. But the really strange part is the fact that one of the Flounder’s eyes moves from the bottom side to the top side of its body as it grows up, leaving it with two eyes side by side.
So, ugly but tasty.
About 7 we drove down to the Main Street Parking area to sit and watch the sun go down and Supermoon come up. And we got good views of both.
We finally gave it up as the moon started to disappear into the overcast.
Tomorrow we’ll probably head over to Pensacola to have lunch at Sonny’s BBQ and do some shopping.
