A Quiet Day At Last . . .

Today was a very quiet day.

Finally!

I slept til about 10, although Jan got up earlier as usual. Coffee was the first thing on the agenda, and then it was time to catch up on some computer work.

Around 11 Jan put in a call to our friends, Al & Adrienne, to see about getting together with them while we’re here in Tucson.

I was emailing back and forth with a lady who’s looking to get rid of her Thousand Trails membership. We’ve been thinking about getting one since we’re now staying in places longer, and it would be worthwhile.

Around noon Jan heated up leftover pizza from Da Boyz in Yuma. Still delicious.

Around 1 I headed out for some errands, first stopping off at the office to find out about receiving mail and to confirm that we will be moving into a 50 amp site down the row next to Nick and Terry. We’re doing OK on 30 amp, but due to our front windows heading west, the heat builds up and it’s hard for just one AC to keep up.

My next stop was Sandy’s RV Supply where I was looking for some new cabinet latches, which they had. Much better place than Camping World.

Then it was on to Home Depot to look at transition strips to go between the tile floor and the new laminate when I get it installed

I finally got home a little after 3:30 and did some puttering about the rig.

About 6 Jan and I headed into Tucson to a place we found highly recommended on the Internet called Micha’s Fine Mexican Food We found the recommendations very accurate and the food very good.

Getting back about the park about 7:30 we walked over to Nick and Terry’s to talk for a while.

More tomorrow . . .

Carnitas and Burritos . . .

Another early morning starting at 7:30am on this ‘maybe’ travel day. If Nick gets his tire fixed this morning, we plan on heading out for Tucson about 10.

So about 8 I woke Jan up and then checked with Nick who said the tire guy had just pulled up. About 15 minutes later the tire was mounted and ready to go, so our 10am ETD was also a go.

And right on time, we pulled out of the Yuma County Fairgrounds at 10am, heading for our first stop in Gila Bend. By 1pm we were parked in the lot at Holt’s Shell RV Park.

Nick and Terry unhitched their Ford Explorer and we all drove over to Sofia’s Mexican Food, our favorite place to eat in Gila Bend. We had been telling them how good this place is, so they wanted to give it a try. And apparently they weren’t disappointed.

Nick had the Shrimp Burrito that Jan loves,

and Terry had a Chili Relleno Plate.

I of course, had my usual Carnita Dinner.

You’re always nervous when you take friends to a restaurant you really love, and have recommended. But Sofia’s came through with flying colors, and Nick and Terry both thought it was great.

Getting back to the parking lot, we proceeded to take care of the real reason we stopped in Gila Bend. Nick wanted to weigh his coach.

A couple of years ago he and Terry had a very nice desk unit built for their RV by an Amish craftsman at Focal Wood Products in Nappanee, Indiana.

And since then he hadn’t had a chance to get his rig weighed.

It only took about 15 minutes and then we were back on our way to Tucson. Click the link to find out more about weighing your RV at a truck stop scale.

The last leg of our trip was pretty uneventful, except for going through Tucson at rush hour, but it really wasn’t too bad.

We go into the Pima County Fairgrounds about 5pm, and got checked in and set up. Since we eaten lunch kind of late, we decided to just make a DQ run a little later.

And about 7:30 we did.
