Almost Done . . .

Where does 3 months go? Seems like I’m trying to get everything done in the last week here.

I left the rig about 11am, with my first stop at the RV Park office to drop off a signed check that will be used to cover our electric usage after we leave, since the office doesn’t open until 9am and we’ll be leaving about 7:30. I also wanted to discuss where we’ll be parking when we get back here in November. I hope we can get back where we were last year, a little closer to the water.

My next stop was Taylor Automotive in Dickinson to firm up the details for my axle oil seal repair on Monday morning after we leave the park.

Heading into Clear Lake I made a quick look-see at Dues RV to see if they had any of our cabinet latches in stock.

I’ve got a couple of them that the little springs and balls have come out of and wanted to replace them, but Dues didn’t have any in stock so I’ll have to check online.

After a stop at Brandi’s to get our mail, I made another pass through Home Depot. Seems like I live here sometimes.

My first client stop was to help her set up a new home office, moving some of the equipment from the main office and setting it up in her home. Couldn’t get the big Xerox network printer working at first until I realized that the office network IP address was in the 192 series, and her home network was on the 10 series. Once I reset the printer’s IP address to the correct one, it all worked fine.

My last client stop was to tie up some last minute loose-ends before we leave town, although I imagine I’ll get a lot of phone calls along the way.

By now it was time to head back to the rig to pick up Jan for dinner. We were meeting Brandi, Lowell, and Landon at Floyd’s Cajun Seafood, our favorite local Cajun place.

The food was delicious as usual, but the service was abysmal, which is very unusual. It took us forever to get our food. After Lowell complained to the manager, we were told that the order printer was relaying the orders to the kitchen correctly, and ours, and others, got lost. The manager did knock 20% off our bill, but still.

Jan and I ordered a dozen raw oysters when we sat down, and then got them 45 minutes later. Then my salad came another 20 minutes, with our meals finally showing up about 30 minutes after that. Bummer!

Last up, I want to wish my beautiful wife Jan a wonderful Happy Valentine’s Day. I love you so much.

Cards and Copters . . .

After a quiet morning I headed out about 1pm for some work and errands. Jan was getting picked up here at the rig by Piper so they could spend the afternoon together, and then later we would meet them for supper, along with Chris and Linda.

My first stop was a client’s office to fix a couple of problems and install two new printers for him. I also got paid, so my next stop was at the bank. Always nice.

Next up was Home Depot for some toggle bolts. I’m trying to reinstall one of the grab handles on the inside of our door, The old bolts had pulled out and I’m trying to make a stronger mount.

I also stopped at a nearby auto parts store to get a couple of #194 light bulbs to replace the bad ones under our steps. They come on when the steps are extended to light the ground under the door to make it easier to see at night.

It was getting close to the time I was supposed to meet everyone for dinner, so I made a quick stop at Brandi’s to get the mail and pick up the package that contained my replacement Globe Helicopter. Unfortunately it will probably be a couple of days before I can get a chance to try it.

Bummer!

I got to La Brisa about 5, with Chris and Linda arriving a few minutes later. But Jan and Piper were having so much fun with their mani-pedi’s that they didn’t show up until a little before 6.

That’s just rude! LOL

After a nice dinner together, we all split up for a while. Piper headed out to see some friends, Chris and Linda to the phone store, with Jan and I stopping off at a beauty supply store to pick up  some products recommended by the nail place.

Then after picking up some lottery tickets, we drove over to Chris’ to drop off and set up another computer. But didn’t get far when I found out he didn’t have a working keyboard. So I’ll have to come back later to finish setting it up.

On another note, when I was at the doctor’s office on Monday, I picked up one of these cards from a display at the office window.

Pharmacy Card

I’d seen ones like it before and didn’t think much about it, but since it was being given out by the doctor, I thought I’d give it a try.

So when I went by Sam’s to pick up Jan’s prescriptions, I handed it the clerk and got a real surprise. Most of Jan’s drugs are of the $4 variety, but her migraine medicine is a little more pricey. And boy did the card work on that one.

Her migraine medicine is normally $86 for 10 tablets, but the card knocked that down to $34. Not bad for a free card.

On a final note, kudos to Amazon for great customer service. I dropped off my defective Globe Helicopter this afternoon at a UPS shipper to return it to Amazon, and this evening I got an email saying they were already issuing my credit.

Don’t know how they did it that fast, but great service, al always.
