More Wu . . .

But first up, on the local front.

One our local favorite family restaurants, Pho20 Asian Restaurant, has permanently closed and will be auctioning off their equipment in the near future. I suspect they are only the first of many if this shutdown drags on much longer.

With the heat coming on, and the temps bumping up against the 90’s now and then, looks like it’s about time to put my magnetic solar screens back up on the front windows.

And if you’re looking for a nice medium to long-term RV site in the south of Houston area, Petticoat Junction has a few rare spots available, one with a full concrete pad. Give Rob a call at (409) 925-7528 and tell him I told you to call.

And now back to my ongoing, online discussion with one of my blog readers/commenters. His comments are in blue, with my answers in black.

Please feel free to jump in and comment.

Here is John’s original message, that I’ve parsed out for my answer.

Greg it isn’t so much as being wrong or right. You are simply seeking materials that support your beliefs no matter how old (not current) some of the info is. HCQ is not what you seem to believe. Anecdotally it may have helped a few people… it may also have killed some. The current science on it says that it isn’t the cure-all you and the president believe it is. Are you not the least bit concerned when he touted looking into the use UV (sun light) and disinfectants in the body?

John, it’s completely about being wrong or right

If I’m wrong, then show me links that you think prove it. But don’t get upset when I post counter arguments.

You are simply seeking materials that support your beliefs no matter how old (not current) some of the info is.

I’m not sure what ‘beliefs’ those are. Except for wanting to see as few people die as possible, I don’t really have a dog in this fight. I haven’t had WuFlu. My wife hasn’t had WuFlu. And I don’t know anyone who’s had it.

All I do is read.

I read dozens of blogs/websites a day, legal, medical, scientific, political, tech, space, etc. And all of that goes into the hopper, and some of it comes out as blog posts. And I didn’t have any ‘beliefs’ going into this. I just started reading as I said.

As far as ‘old (not current)’  give me some examples, please.

HCQ is not what you seem to believe.

HCQ and CQ are exactly what I believe. You mentioned earlier that you were a late-comer to my blog. Then you may have missed the references in past blogs to the fact that I HAVE taken both CQ and HCQ as a teenager.

But when this all started I didn’t even recognize the names chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine. It had been so long, 50+ years, that I had forgotten what I had taken. But when I started reading the anti-malaria stuff about it, it all came back.

We lived in Colombia, S.A. for about 18 months when I was 13-14 and I was given CQ as a treatment for the case of malaria I contracted. In most tropical countries where malaria is prevalent, CQ/HCQ is sold over the counter with no prescription needed since many/most? people take it every day to prevent malaria. The only side-effect I had was the occasional upset stomach that many people mention.

Then back in Alabama in 1967, I had, as sometimes happens, a malaria relapse. I started getting seizures, chills, shortness of breath, and fevers. But the doctors didn’t know what was wrong with me. But when I was down in Florida for the summer I had a really bad attack and ended up in the hospital. After checking me over, the doctor ask me if I had ever had malaria, and I said yes.

He said, “Well, you’ve got it again.” When I ask why the doctors in north Alabama hadn’t been able to diagnose it, he laughed and said, “I doubt they see a lot of malaria in north Alabama.” I was put on a 2 month regime of HCQ this time, every day, with no nausea, no more seizures, and never had an attack again.

Anecdotally it may have helped a few people… it may also have killed some.

‘helped a few people’? I will be happy to send you 100’s or even 1000’s of anecdotal reports of people being cured of WuFlu after taking HCQ/Z-Pack/Zinc Sulfate, including some on vents (BTW only about 20-30% of WuFlu patients survive after being put on vent), and some in medically-inducted comas, not expected to survive. And many of these links I have posted here in the blog. How many anecdotal stories do you need from the doctors who treated the people. Are they all lying?

One thing that keeps coming out of many of these ‘studies’ is that they are not using HCQ the right way, or at least the way the doctors who are having success with it say. First off, some of these ‘studies’ used CQ, not HCQ, and talk about the side effects. HCQ was specifically develop as a replacement for CQ just for this reason.

Secondly, many of these studies use either way too much, or not enough HCQ.

And third, they leave out the Zinc Sulfate. Zinc is known to kill viruses, especially cold-related ones like WuFlu. That’s why you have products like Zicam, ColdEze, and others. Now the body has zinc in it, but the treatment works a lot better with extra zinc supplement.

Again, here’s the regimen.

Hydroxychloroquine
400mg Twice a Day on Day
   200mg Twice a Day on Day’s 2-5

Azithromycin (Z-pack)
    500mg Once a Day for 5 Days

Zinc Sulfate
     220mg Once a Day for 5 Days

And how about literally millions of other people it has helped. Here in the U.S. HCQ is a standard daily drug for lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis, as well as several autoimmune diseases. Plus HCQ is routinely prescribed to children with Asthma. This at much higher daily doses of HCQ than are used in the 5 day regimen for WuFlu. So how dangerous can it really be?

Plus the millions of people around the world that live in tropical (malaria-prone) areas of the world that also take daily doses of HCQ.

Want a little confirmation on this? Take a look at the WorldOMeter/CoronaVirus site and look in the country’s Total Deaths column. Note that places like India, the world’s largest manufacturer of HCQ (hmm, why would that be?), with 4 times the population of the U.S., has had only 780 deaths vs. 53,000+ in the U.S.

Now check a few of the other tropical (malaria-prone) countries in Asia and South America and look at their Total Deaths. Now yes, some of this may be because of the reported heat/humidity vulnerability of the WuFlu, and some of it may be because of botched reporting from a poor country.

But 67 times different?

I noticed you said ‘may have killed some.’  Penicillin can kill people, aspirin can kill people. A lot of drugs can kill some people.

But again, millions of people take HCQ every day and I see no indication that people are dropping like flies worldwide.

The current science on it says that it isn’t the cure-all you and the president believe it is. Are you not the least bit concerned when he touted looking into the use UV (sun light) and disinfectants in the body?

Show me one place in this blog where I, or the President, have ever referred to it as a ‘cure-all. You can’t, because neither of us have said that. And name me one medicine, vaccine, treatment that is a ‘cure-all’ for anything.

You do realize that the President is getting daily briefings from his medical team, don’t you? And they’re telling him all the latest things that are going on?

I assume you do know that doctors regularly insert tubes in a patient’s lungs for drainage, etc. Well, how about the doctors that are inserting tubes lined with low-output UV LED’s into the lungs to kill the virus in-situ, i.e., inside the patient. Here’s a link to a government site talking about doing the same thing, but with implanted wireless IR LEDs, but since it’s two years old, maybe it’s ‘not current’ enough for you. LOL.

And here’s an article about the type of UV LEDs that are used in this treatment. Note that it kills 99.9% of the virus in 30 seconds, almost like the ‘flash of light’ metaphor that the President used.

And here’s a company that’s recently signed an agreement with Cedars-Sinai Hospitals to help develop and test an UV device called Healight. From the AP News press release:

The Healight technology employs proprietary methods of administering intermittent ultraviolet (UV) A light via a novel endotracheal medical device.

You know, that sounds a lot like what the President said. Think maybe he had heard about this from his many advisors?

And doctors and respiratory therapists regularly inject substances into people’s lungs to treat diseases, i.e to disinfect the patient.  Here’s a 12 page scholarly article from a Japanese medical journal about using the inhalation of alcohol vapors (you know, the stuff in sanitizers and disinfectants) to treat WuFlu. Yes, I know it’s over a month old, so maybe it’s not current enough.

And FWIW despite the media reports, the words Lysol or Clorox never came from the President.

Not once.
