Please, Please, Please, Be Good . . .

We knew Nick and Terry would be coming through Texas on their way to Arizona, but their schedule was a little loosey-goosey, as far as Sunday or Monday. So we were ready to walk out the door when we heard from them. Luckily for us they were planning to stay at a hotel right near our daughter Brandi’s exit off I-10, so we stopped off there while waiting for them to arrive and get settled in.

And by about 5pm, we were all at the Saltgrass Steakhouse right on the other side of their hotel’s exit.

As we were coming in the restaurant, Jan saw a sign for their Blackened Redfish and thought it looked good. Now I have always warned her that you don’t order fish at a steakhouse, and conversely, you don’t order steak at Red Lobster. But she, and Terry, both went for the Redfish. However Nick and I stayed true to our beliefs and got the Ribeyes.

And, as it turns out we were all happy. Though as Jan said as she was ready to take her first bite, “Please, please, please be good!”

And according to her, it was . . . very, very good. In fact it may be her new favorite dish here.

Nick agreed with me about the ribeyes, and said it was one of the best steaks he’s ever had.

And since we hadn’t seen Nick and Terry since October a year ago, we just sat  and talked until Saltgrass pretty much closed don’t around us. And luckily for us, it’ll only be about 4 months until we see them again when we travel first over to Gulf Shore in June, and then on down to visit them in Florida afterwards.

Tomorrow we’ll try to wrap up all of our pre-Alabama trip prep stuff since I’ll work on Wednesday and then we’ll leave Thursday morning.

Really looking forward to a road trip, the first we’ve done without the rig since 2015.
